September 2017 Introductory Letter to Parents
Hello! My name is Mario Ivancic and I am very happy to have your child in my third grade class this year. I’d like to begin by telling you a bit about myself. I graduated from University of Zagreb with a degree in Childhood Education and American College of Education with a Masters degree in Educational Leadership. I have been teaching at Healy School for twelve years. I am married and I have two children who also attend Chicago Public Schools. I love teaching and I can’t wait to start the year with your child.
We have a great year ahead of us! Third grade is an exciting year and I have high academic expectations from all my students and just as high behavioral expectations. It is important that you and your child are informed about my classroom management system so that everyone knows what is expected. Our classroom rules are based off of three traits: Be Respectful, Be Responsible, Be Safe. I expect everyone to follow those three rules and if someone does not, after two warnings, I will be contacting you.
Classroom Information Grading Policy
A – Substantially exceeds the standard, 90-100
B – Exceeds the standard, 80-89
C – Meets the standard, 70-79
D – Less than acceptable performance of the standard, 60-69 F – Does not meet the standard, below 60
I strongly believe that parent involvement is extremely important to be successful in the classroom. Thank you in advance for taking the time to read this letter. I look forward to getting to know you and working with you throughout the year. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns at 773-534-9190 or email me at: [email protected]. I also have a website mrivancicI05.weebly.com where you can find many important class related information (syllabus, homework, etc.).
Sincerely,
Mr. Ivancic
